Simpkins analyzed archaeobotanical remains from flotation samples from the Swannanoa phase component.

The Warren Wilson site also conained a Late Archaic Savannah River phase component. Elizabeth S. Wing analyzed zooarchaeological remains in screened samples recovered from Savannah River phase deposits at Warren Wilson. Patricia Sanford, Richard Yarnell, and Daniel L. Simpkins analyzed archaeobotanical remains from flotation samples from the Savannah River phase component.

The Biltmore Estate site is a Middle Woodland Connestee phase village in Buncombe County. The site was tested by Michael Baker and Linda Hall (19930. Their excavations yielded unanalyzed flotation samples from a Connestee phase pit.

The Payne site is a Late Prehistoric Caraway phase village in Moore County. The site was tested by Joseph Mountjoy (1985). Subsistence remains were recovered from screened samples taken from a feature but have not been reported.

The Payne site also contained a Mississippian Pee Dee phase component and a Late Woodland Uwharrie phase component. Again, subsistence remains were recovered from screened samples taken from features but they have not been reported.

The Permuda Island site is a Middle Woodland Cape Fear phase shell midden site in Onslow County. The site has been investigated several times. Thomas Loftfield surveyed the site and recovered zooarchaeological remains in screened samples taken from burial fill, shell caches, storage and refuse pits, and general midden contexts (1984). Loftfield also conducted test excavations at the Permuda Island site (1985). Gregory Waselkov analyzed zooarchaeological remains recovered from midden deposits and storage pits during this testing.

The Permuda Island site also contains a Late Woodland Oak Island phase component. Zooarchaeological remains recovered from screened samples of burial fill, storage pits, a whelk cache, and general midden from the initial survey investigations have analyzed. Gregory Waselkov analyzed zooarchaeological remains from samples recovered from general midden and storage pits during the 1985 testing at Permuda Island.

Site 31Yd1 is a Late Woodland Uwharrie phase village in Yadkin County. The site was tested by Joffre L. Coe (1972). Unanalyzed subsistence remains were recovered from a feature at the site.

The Donnaha site is a Late Woodland Dan River phase village in Yadkin County. The site was excavated by J. Ned Woodall. Gregory Mikell analyzed archaeobotanical and zooarchaeological remains found in screened and flotation samples taken from midden deposits, refuse pit fill, shell lenses, storage pit fill, and burial pit fill.

The Donnaha site also contained a Late Woodland Uwharrie phase component.
